Man - God's greatest mistake, his shame in all his glory. As mistake, man makes more mistakes that culminates in tragedy - local and global. He plunders, pillages, exploits, usurps, destroys, annexes, hurts, harms, and leaves only nothing behind...
Ungrateful, innately selfish, lustful, desire-driven, power-craving... evil in every imaginable way. But unimaginably loving as well; a paragon of paradoxes always mired in the state of confusion and perplexity.
The errors we have made and witnessed pitifully outnumber the successes we've achieved. Yet failure is, as they woefully comfort themselves, the mother of success. Success is, conversely, engendered from failure. For if the state of things were left to be, there are only mistakes; failure is the natural order of things - things that have been, things that are, things that are yet to come.
Mistakes: We hurt most the things we love most - it is an inevitable event, an inalienable truth. We neglect those who love us most, we take for granted their concern in the mistaken belief it would be forever. We destroy the very things we inherit, the very gifts most precious to us. Our tools are nothing more than our own humanity - fear, insecurity, envy, pride, desire, lust, avarice, wrath, gluttony, sloth...
Some of us, perhaps only the best of us, learn from the tragedy that is truly us. Perhaps some of us, only the very best of us, transcend our flawed humanity to be something more.
But most of us never do. For some mistakes can never be corrected, some errors stay a lifetime, some consequences... eternal.
