By Definition

It is not what we say that makes us who we are. It is what we do - and not do - that defines us.

But most of us are just ordinary ... because we fear to define ourselves. We let others determine who we are, what we should do, and even what we should say (or not say). We fear difference; we fear to be different. We embrace conformity. We seek solace in similarisms. We desire to preserve ourselves at any cost. We let others determine how we should behave and react and what we should do with our lives. We agreeably purchase the consumerism that abounds; we internalise the fallacy of good life and opportunity for all. We allow systems and grand metanarratives to determine what and how we should think. We readily offer our individuality - to inadvertently support those who further perpetuate that myth called 'success'.

And so we keep silent at injustice; we look away from evil ... so we may survive; so we may possibly taste success.
