Have you ever had a dream of being lost, of wandering in the dense jungle amidst a sea of green, a sea that seemingly knew no bounds, where trees bore the mark of synonymity, where the beaten paths led you back to where you first began? Have you ever dreamnt of charging through the forest, with perspiration oozing from the open pores that breathe of fear, with humidity enwrapping your fibrous being? Did everything, every rock, tree, and cove look the same? Did the air smell of an unusual stillness? Did the forest echo silence with only the sounds of your desperate footsteps in haste? Was nowhere the only thing in sight?
Have you ever dreamnt of storming through the void with no glimmer of light? Was darkness all you could see? Have you ever felt the soul-same darkness crawl upon your skin and the chill run through your bones, a chill that made you quiver in the heat of desperation and fear? Were you running as fast as your legs could carry you? Were you panting and breathing heavily from the exhaustion, from the suffocating fear? Were you trying to find a way out of the abounding darkness yet never being quite sure of where you were going, what lay on the ground beneath your feet? Were you waiting for the night to end knowing you could not outrun it? Did you scream out in anguish only to realise the void had muted those pleas for sanity.
Did your dream conclude with you ending the chase of nothingness? Did you end your race at where you began? Were you still lost? Were you still enclosed by the darkness? Were you still haunted by the towering trees that beckoned you at every turn? Did you stop running? Did you fall to your kness in overwhelming despair and desperation knowing that strength and hope had departed? Did your tears, comingled so indistinguishably with your perspiration, taste of a salinity that stung the buds of your tongue?
