Today's a good day for a day out in the ocean on a 'Dancer' - calm sea, bright sun, quiet ocean with few people fighting for space!
It's been a while since I took the 'Dancer' out. I might even say I've lost some skill with it. Pity ... need to regain my confidence and skill with manouevering.
I like kayaking out into open water. The feeling of drifting on the ocean is an indescribable sense of satisfaction. There is only the rhythmic sound of the paddle cutting through the water. All else is silence - no traffic, no urban sounds, no noise. It's the closest I can get to taking short escapes - even if that escape were momentary.
It's strange how I've come to love the outdoors so much in the course of these 8-9 years. I think it stems from resentment of urbanism and that deep suffocation and sense of claustrophobia engendered from city-life.
In any case, it's back to realities of urbanity. I've got a full day of invigilation ahead tomorrow.
So much for great escapes. I will do it again next weekend.
